How Long To Lose 20lbs?

Can you please do it for me?

I get asked variations of this all the time. How long would it take to lose 5lbs, 10lbs, 20lbs? What can I lose in 2 weeks? I got a thing coming up in a month, can I lose (fill in the blank) by then?

My answer: I don't know.

People have convinced you that other people can do it for you. The reality is whatever you want to do, you are the one who has to accomplish it.

There's a tree standing in front of you. All that you want is on the other side of that tree. But you are the lumberjack not me. Only you know how often, how hard, how dedicated, how committed you are to swinging that axe. Only you will know if you'll pick up that axe at all.

My single job is to sharpen that axe, teach you how to swing it, and encourage you. Then I must pass the axe back to you. That's it. And that's all I am trying to perfect. It's why I'm so good at what I do, I don't lie to you or myself and pretend to do anything else. So I perfect the art of sharpening the axe and teaching swing techniques.

But the world has convinced you that other people or things can do it for you. Whether it's me, a book, nutritionist, life coach, a DVD, a pill, a bootcamp, a trainer, a shrink, whomever, we can only sharpen the axe but you must swing it. The easy way to make money is to convince you they can do it for you. Who wouldn't pay if they knew this other guy, or this program can do it all for you? Who wouldn't pay if there's a guarantee? Who wouldn't pay if they didn't have to work or change to create results?

And on top of that it's quick, easy, and fun? Sounds too good to be true. And it is.

It doesn't work and it never has. We have so many programs, books, experts, reality shows, and obesity keeps rising every year. We spend billions and we haven't dented the problem.

They want to convince you they can do it for you because they want your money but it's a lie. You must do it.

Even a therapist can't make a depressed person happy, they can attempt to mitigate or alleviate the depression, but you make yourself happy. That's on you. Doctor's can't make you healthy, they can alleviate illness or help you not to be sick, but being healthy is on you. And health is more than just absence of illness.

I offer a very powerful program and experience and we have a great track record. It's like you're applying for a sales position with a powerful company that has all the tools and knowledge to make you successful, and once you're hired, you ask your boss, "so what kind of numbers will I hit in two weeks? Or my first month?"

Shouldn't it be the other way around, if given all the tools, you tell the company what you can accomplish? If making sales in your name is the company's job, then what's your job? What makes you special? What's your value? So many others have failed, why will you succeed?

This is the truth and the world doesn't work any other way. Success in all industries, all successful people succeeded with this model. There's never been a model where someone became successful by someone else doing the work for them. It's a model that doesn't work and has never worked. And it's why fitness keeps making lots of money, because they are never solving the problem. It's modeled itself after failure. And what's the most common questions people ask when they think about weight loss? Why does everything fail? Why doesn't it work? Why can't I lose weight and keep it off? Why do I fail at weight loss?

Listen, weight loss is a huge obstacle. You know that. The only way to surmount that obstacle is with the right mindset.

"What can I lose in 2 weeks? When can I lose 20lbs?" You tell me.

Once you realize it's on you, that's when we're just starting to get on the right track. Some people don't want the truth, they want to hear a lie, they're willing to pay to hear lies. So our program isn't for everyone. Because we won't lie and can only help the people who are willing to help themselves. We enhance what's already in you, but we can't create drive.
