On The Radio

Heard someone on the radio say, you don't need much to make dinner. You just need a bag of flour and a bag of sugar to start...What kind of meal is this going to be?

  1. If we heard the same thing, the context was that even if you were only earning $11/hour in a paper mill, if you were smart and knew how to stretch your money you could survive and feed a family.

  2. We did hear the same thing. It is about a fixed budget and it's more of an observation that they could have said anything, but flour and sugar were the staples she mentioned. I feel like, even if you had a lot of money, if you wanted to cook, a lot of people feel a fully stocked kitchen should always have flour and sugar.

I'm glad we are both NPR listeners!
